Lanternly Terms of Use
Version 1.0
1. Use Lanternly responsibly
You must be an adult and a parent or legal guardian, or otherwise have legal authority, to connect a child’s phone. You are responsible for having any permission the law requires and for following custody orders and other applicable rules.
Tell your child about Lanternly and what it shares before connecting their phone. Lanternly is designed to be visible to the child; it is not a secret-monitoring app. Don’t use it to monitor another adult or anyone you have no right to monitor.
Keep your account secure, invite only people who should have access to your family, and use Lanternly only for lawful family-safety purposes. Don’t use it to harass someone, break into an account or device, or interfere with a network without permission.
2. What Lanternly can and can’t do
Lanternly can apply the website rules you set, show supported app-use totals and blocked-site events, and alert you when protection changes or a device goes quiet. Features depend on the phone, its settings, and its internet connection.
Filtering is not perfect. It may miss a site or be bypassed, reports can be delayed, and the phone may go offline or stop reporting. Lanternly cannot guarantee that a child won’t see harmful content or that protection will always be on. It is one family-safety tool, not a replacement for a parent’s supervision or an emergency service.
3. Your responsibility for connected phones
You confirm that you have the right to install Lanternly and enable the permissions you choose on each connected phone. You’re responsible for choosing suitable rules, explaining them to your child, and checking reports and device status. Don’t present Lanternly as a guarantee that a child is safe online.
4. Our app and service
Lanternly and its branding belong to Portrait Studio or its licensors. We give you permission to use the app for your family while you follow these Terms. Don’t copy, sell, or misuse the app, or try to disrupt or defeat its security. Open-source parts of the app remain covered by their own licences.
We’ll work to keep Lanternly useful and available, but we may update features and sometimes need to pause the service for maintenance, security, or other practical reasons. We’ll try to give notice of major changes where we can.
5. Accounts, deletion, and misuse
You can stop using Lanternly at any time. Use Settings → Delete account to request deletion of your account and associated family information. Information we must keep for legal or security reasons, and short-lived protected backups, may remain for a limited time. If the in-app option is not yet available, email support@lanternly.co.zw and we’ll help.
We may suspend or close an account if it is used to harm someone, break these Terms or the law, or put the service or a child at risk. Where practical, we’ll explain the reason and give you a chance to resolve the problem.
If your unlawful use or serious breach of these Terms causes a third-party claim against Portrait Studio, you may be responsible for reasonable resulting costs, to the extent the law allows. You aren’t responsible for a claim caused by our own unlawful conduct or for liability that the law says cannot be shifted to you.
6. Liability
We provide Lanternly as a practical tool, not a promise that every site will be blocked or every report will arrive. Nothing in these Terms removes a consumer right or limits responsibility that the law does not let us limit.
Where the law allows, Portrait Studio is not responsible for indirect losses that could not reasonably have been expected when you started using Lanternly.
7. The law that applies
These Terms are governed by the laws of Zimbabwe. Any mandatory consumer rights you have where you live still apply.
8. Changes and contact
We may update these Terms as Lanternly changes. We’ll update the version and date, and tell you about important changes. If a new choice is required by law, we’ll ask you before it takes effect.
